Many people believe that Arts in the Criminal Justice Sector have soft outcomes, but we believe that they have more significance than this. They provide viable options for training and skill development, leading to employment opportunities that may have otherwise been considered impossible. The sad reality is, there is little opportunity for many of our beneficiaries, homeless ex-offenders, for example, often struggle with boredom throughout the day. Instead of sitting in a hostel, shelter or even a tent, they can attend the Pearl Project as a welcome and often necessary distraction that will remove them from the streets and put them in a warm and safe environment where they can learn and develop.
